How do I stay in control of 20 children in a non formal choir class with ages ranging from 5 to 12?

Explain to the children what your expectations of them are during the practice. If need write it down in simple, straight forward, easy to understand terms. Give them a reward if all expectations are met and consequnces (or remove privileges) if they are not met. Make age appropriate rewards and consequences for the children of different ages. You may break them up into teams and have them strive for rewards as a group. How do I stay in control of 20 children in a non formal choir class with ages ranging from 5 to 12?
Explain to the parents that you expect their cooperation. If someone is difficult there will be consquences including the possible removal from the group for bad behavior. Talk to the children at the first meeting and tell them good behavior is required or they can't be part of the group. Tell them you are a team and teams only can win if you work well together. Hope this helps. How do I stay in control of 20 children in a non formal choir class with ages ranging from 5 to 12?
1) Have some of the older kids be ';Assistants'; and help supervise.

2) Form groups, pairs, or teams.

3) Pray.
I agree with Bogey... the only thing I would like to add is to remember with such an age variance that the younger children have a shorter attention span. So try to chunk activities to account for this.
Get a long wip
You just have to be strict if you can't do that then there is no hope.
