In the first place rodents and insects aren't organisms, they carry them. They carry fleas, lice and various parasites that are harmful to humans because of the organisms they carry.
Bubonic plague from the lice in the fleas that mice and rats carry to hanta virus in the mice. It goes on and on but mostly it's the virus that the lice and fleas carry that infest these animals and insects.
