Teaching? how should one control distrubing students in class?

Make it a no-fail situation....

Tell your class that for everyday you have no disturbances you will place a marble in a jar... when the jar gets full.. you get a special treat, etc.

HOWEVER.... exclude...the child that is doing the disturbing. If he or she disrupts class they WILL STILL GET A MARBLE. If he or she does NOT disturb class then the class will earn 2 marbles.

Pretty soon the ';peer pressure'; from the class will help the child's behavior.

Also... be sure to praise appropriate behavior immediately... and be very specific when doing so.

Often the tone for the class is set in the first few minutes... I try to have something up on the projection screen for the class to begin work on immediately when they enter the room. Other times I have a short 10 question quiz over the previous day's lesson waiting on their desks. (Some people call this bell work.) I make it something that can easily be done in about 5-7 minutes.

I teach high school, so this gives me a minute to do attendance and ';switch gears'; for the next class.Teaching? how should one control distrubing students in class?
Tie their little asses up with duck tape. That will make an impression. Don't forget the duck tape for their mouths too. They are rude little shits.Teaching? how should one control distrubing students in class?
smack em', smack em' with a yardstick!
Try to interact with them. Tell them for example that if they stay quiet yu'll take them on a field trip, or to a park, etc.

That would keep them quiet for sometime till u think of something better .

Tell them that if they did their hws they will go to the zoo for example, or anything like that. This will attract their attention and when they are rewarded they will learn to keep quiet in the future (try also to give them gifts as rewards , this is a good incentive for them to work hard, concentrate in class, and to do their homeworks in due time)

Depending on the age of the students you deal with. the example mentioned above is up to fifth or sixth graders. It can go even up to preparatory level (middle school) . But be careful of being made fun of or laughed at. It depends how the students see it. High school students will think it funny, yet experimenting is always useful. If u succeed. Good luck. If u don't, then try a different tactic. Ask them how they would like the lesson to go. Their own participation and ideas in YOUR teaching matters a lot. It gives the students a responsibility to take care of.

Good luck with your experimentation
send him out for sometime
Give out detentions or just send them out for a while. Or just tell them that they will have a little free time before the bell rings if they are good.
Yell haha just kidding the kids will hate you fer it

Threaten to send them to detention or the OFFICE but if its a college class then ouch I cant help
if you have to ask this question in yahoo answer, then, you should ask yourself whether you really should be in the teaching profession.
